Adel Ben Mohammed Ben Tahar Rahali continues his hunger strike since November 6, 2005

My husband, Adel Rahali, began a hunger strike on November 6, 2005, unlimited strike and savage (without water nor sugar), one of the forms of the most dangerous strikes. It will go until the end this time, until God delivers it because it is oppressed, condemned to five years of oppression, all that for a pseudonym or a membership of a terrorist organization. By this means, he wants that his voice arrives at the whole world, because it was not heard in Tunisia, where he is repressed and innocent. My husband let know that it would carry out this strike until its term, the victory or martyrdom, it is that five years of his life were mown to him ! I ask by this mail all the defenders of the rights of the political prisoners and particularly those who are in Ireland, to help my husband by making pressure on Tunis to release him. I ask for the assistance of the international media and all the organizations of humans right and defense of the press, to help my husband to be heard by the Irish authorities so that these last require in Tunis to release Adel. He was returned from Ireland to Tunisia only for one infringement with the law on immigration in force to Ireland. It has nothing to do with terrorism, neither of near nor by far.

I invite the Tunisian and Irish persons in charge to say why my husband is in prison so far. I know that the reaction of the Tunisian authorities to the hunger strike could be very hard : refeeding of force or transfer in another prison, distant. This is why is needed that the Irish persons in charge examines that seriously, that they take makes and causes for him and contribute to its release by specifying the way in which it was returned at the time to Tunisia. I want that all is done so that it ceases his strike. I invite the Irish authorities to intervene and make pressure on Tunisia to release him. Irish authorities have to provide Tunisia with a document proving that Adel was returned to Tunisia only for infringement with the rules of immigration to Ireland. Myself and my husband tenons for persons in charge for what Adel endured : prison, torture, oppression following its expulsion in Tunisia on April 14, 2004.

I undersigned, Adel Rahali, currently imprisoned with the civil prison of April 9 in Tunis, informs solemnly of my entry in unlimited hunger strike as from November 6, 2005 : I refuse the injustice which fell down on me at the time of my last lawsuit which was held on last 3 October, at the time I was condemned to five years of imprisonment, ten years of administrative control, and to a fine of five thousand dinars, all that to have used a pseudonym. I feel that my life is broken. I lost any hope, because it was stolen five years of my life wrongfully and I did not do anything so that I am condemned. I was shown terrorism and I am innocent. My only sin is to have resided abroad, in Ireland where I asked for asylum to obtain documents of stay. I am a victim of the war against terrorism, a victim of the recent law antiterrorist in Tunisia. Here where it starts to condemn it’s own children for saying to the world that they fight terrorism ! Where are the United Nations ? Where are the committees of humans right ? Where are the defenders of the victims of the war against terrorism ? I am their victim, if not they would have defended me after I lost any hope with the lawsuit before the Court of Appeal, when I was not released. I do not rely any more on whoever and I decided this time to carry out this strike until one restores me my freedom or that God delivers me. any person concerned, with whoever refuses the injustice in this world. I ask for my release and to be able to join my wife of Jordanian nationality, Mervat Yaghi, which I did not re-examine since two years.
