To whom it may concern,
We are Hamadi’s daughters, Soumaya, Safa, and Soundous.
Our father, Hamadi Jebali, is a newspaper director in Tunisia called Al Fajr. He was arrested on 31 January 1991. This followed the publication of an article written by a lawyer called Mohammed Nouri that called for the closure of military tribunals.
We are three girls, like any girls in this world, we have the right to live inside a family and be a way of any disturb. We have the right to smile and not crying all time. We have the right to see our dad when we enter from school.
As any humankind who lived distant from his/her parent more than 14 years, we fell sad and heartbreaking. Our dad is a journalist and not a criminal.
We tasted all kind of misery and depression during the last years. The Tunisian government prevented us from passport. They pursued us even in school. They tried to zip our mouth even to say to the others: “Help us...Please”. Our dad was isolated in a 2mx3m room for 14 years. He has a lot of diseases. They are trying to kill him in front of our eyes.
We didn’t write for you before. This is the first time we are asking you for something. We come to you because we didn’t find any other solution. Our dad has disappeared from the jail since he started a hunger strike the last month, September, 2005. My mom cannot support any more and we are living in a very bad situation.
You have families, and may be kids. In the name of humanities and freedom stay next to us and support our family at this time.
We want to see our father.
We want to live in tranquility.
We want to be like our friends in school, who have a dad and fell what does family means.
We want you to help us....So please ask them to liberate our dad.
Soumaya, Safa and Soundos
